Judge Sotomayor confirmation HEARINGS (EDIT: Wow, I’m jumping the gun.) begin today

Posted in DC Reform by raisingwomensvoices on July 13, 2009

Sonia Sotomayor Judge Sonia Sotomayor, nominated to the Supreme Court by President Barack Obama will head to hearings today to begin the process of her confirmation. Though RH Reality Check says that “no one expects dramatics”, we’ll see. Conservative politicians, pundits, and lobbyists have called her everything from an activist judge to a racist. Hopefully she will get the same fair treatment that every Supreme Court appointee deserves. Check out the live hearings on C-Span, and let us know your thoughts! Also, check out the live blog. We don’t really know Sotomayor’s legal or personal opinions on the topics of gay rights or abortion, so stay tuned.
