The House tri-committee has a health care bill!
Check it out, all or some of the 850 pages (and a Wonk Room guide). This bill is supposed to be the most public option-friendly, complete with a dedication to women’s health care and other important things that we like to see. The bill is a product of the three House committees; Ways and Means, Education and Labor, and Energy and Commerce (see this press conference). Mark-up is expected to start tomorrow (!!!), and we’ll see how it is received by policy makers and the public (watch C-Span!). Raising Women’s Voices encourages you to do some research – read the bill and proposed amendments. Then go a bit further – call or email congress people on these committees. Commend them for good parts, and ask them to revise or advocate for change in not so good parts. The House is (ideally) more directly attuned to the needs of their constituents, so your voices are very important. Raise them!
