A disability-insurance program pushed for by Senate HELP Committee Chairman Ted Kennedy

Ted Kennedy is proposing the creation of a disability-insurance program for workers that would be immediately deducted from workers’ paychecks unless refused. However, the plan would offer more consistent premium levels, an on-line exchange site for shopping for plans, and it would not exclude based on pre-existing conditions (though benefits would only begin to be available after five years).
