North Dakota Bill Would Require Providers To Offer Ultrasounds 24 Hours Before Performing Abortions

North Dakota attempts to join the 18 other states that have similar laws on the books. Though the bill would not require women to view the ultrasound, Rep. Bette Grande (R), who introduced the bill (H.B. 1371), said that she hoped it would cause them to rethink their decisions after they “see what they have inside their womb[s]”. Women’s health advocates have spoken out against the proposal, citing that it interferes with the doctor-patient relationship and would add to the financial burden of accessing abortions.
