Struggling states cut healthcare for poor before Obama can bolster coverage

At a time when Americans are in need of  more health services, an increasing number of states are cutting off coverage. Health officials warn that the federal rescue package currently being formed (up to a $100 billion to bail out Medicaid) might fall short of restoring the eliminated services. With nearly 60 million dependent on Medicaid for various forms of health care, many are at risk of losing services. “We’re essentially creating medical refugees,” said Stacey Gross, community programs manager at Susan G. Komen for the Cure of Southern Nevada.
